01 · What Winnington does

Technical understanding, commercial judgement and supply. One partner.

We work from what you have, whether that’s a specification, a sample or an idea, and find the right way to make and supply it. Not every product needs the most sophisticated pack, so we match performance and cost to the job.

  1. 01Source

    Find the right manufacturer

International manufacturing and supply options, matched to each requirement on quality, technical fit, cost, capacity and lead time.

  2. 02Develop

    Improve or create packaging

From a pack that isn’t performing to a new format, material or concept, developed with the manufacturers best placed to make it.

  3. 03Validate

    Prove it works

We work from your specification, drawing or sample. Nothing reaches commercial supply without technical validation and documentation.

  4. 04Manage

    Run supply as one account

Orders, quality, documentation and logistics managed from the UK, across as many SKUs as you choose.

Who we work with

  • Large food manufacturers
  • Industrial manufacturers
  • SMEs
  • Emerging brands
  • Packaging start-ups
  • Bespoke and innovation projects

04 · How benchmarking works

Your packaging, benchmarked.

Start with one SKU. We’ll tell you whether our network can match or improve it, and prove it before you commit.

  1. 01

    Send us your specification

One SKU is enough to start. A spec sheet, drawing, photo or physical sample all work.

  2. 02

    We assess the requirement

Our team reviews the structure, format, print and process conditions.

  3. 03

    We identify manufacturing capability

We match the requirement to manufacturers in our network with the right equipment and certification.

  4. 04

    Samples and technical validation

Samples or trial material are tested against your requirement and on your line where needed.

  5. 05

    Commercial comparison

A like-for-like comparison of price, MOQ, lead time and delivery terms.

  6. 06

    Managed supply

Winnington manages orders, quality, documentation and logistics as your single UK point of contact.

06 · Quality & compliance

Credibility comes from process, not promises.

These are the checks we apply before any manufacturer is proposed and any SKU is supplied.

01

Manufacturer qualification

  • Site certification relevant to the product. For food packaging this is typically the BRCGS Global Standard for Packaging Materials, with the certificate’s status, scope and grade checked on the BRCGS Directory
  • Quality, environmental and fibre chain-of-custody certification where relevant (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, FSC, PEFC)
  • Equipment and capacity confirmed for the specific format
  • Commercial and financial checks before first order
02

Food-contact compliance

  • Declaration of compliance for each food-contact SKU
  • Plastics assessed against the GB food-contact framework: Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 and Regulation (EU) 10/2011, as they apply in GB law
  • Good manufacturing practice under Regulation (EC) 2023/2006
  • Migration test data for the stated conditions of use
03

Specification control

  • Signed-off specification for every SKU before production
  • Agreed tolerances for dimensions, thickness and print
  • Colour standard approved before the first print run
  • No material or process change without prior notice and approval
04

Supply & traceability

  • Batch or lot identification on every delivery
  • Certificate of analysis or conformity per batch where specified
  • Non-conformance and corrective-action process
  • Composition data to support Plastic Packaging Tax and EPR reporting

Quality & compliance in detail

07 · The Winnington difference

Why Winnington exists.

Buying packaging is not new. Doing it with benchmarking, validation and accountability is less common.

  1. 01

    International sourcing

Manufacturing and supply options matched to each requirement, instead of dependence on a single production site or region.

  2. 02

    Commercial benchmarking

An evidence-based view of whether your current packaging could be sourced more competitively.

  3. 03

    Technical matching

We work from your existing specifications, samples and drawings, so equivalence is checked, not assumed.

  4. 04

    Multi-SKU management

One commercial relationship that can manage many packaging lines across categories.

  5. 05

    Quality & compliance

Documentation, traceability and certification checked before supply and kept current after.

  6. 06

    Supply-chain management

We coordinate between manufacturers and your site, including production scheduling, shipping and import documentation.

  7. 07

    UK account management

You deal with Winnington in the UK, not with several overseas manufacturers directly.

09 · Customer platform

Every SKU, one view.

We’re building a customer platform that brings specifications, lead times, certificates, orders and spend for every managed SKU into one place.
